Even a century ago our Baparde villagers were concerned about education. They could foresee that- Without education the village cannot progress further.
First school was established in Baparde on 7th August 1909. The land was freely gifted by the Sakpal brothers. With the initiative of Kanhoji Mahadev Naikdhure, the villagers built a small school building.
Until 1978, it was just a primary school. Later, as the place became inadequate, Shri. Dhondabarao Rane took the initiative, and Amrutrao Rane (Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti), constructed a new building with assistance from the Ratnagiri Zilla Parishad, which lasted until 2009. By this time School expanded till 7th Std.
Later, as the population of Baparde increased, 3 more schools got added in the village. Thus, the village had four primary schools
In 2008, the villagers and Mumbaiker together celebrated centenary of the oldest primary school. This building was immediately thereafter demolished and new one was constructed in 2009.
This was the situation of primary education for about 110 years. However, for secondary education, children had no option but to attend high school at far away places viz. Mond, Wada, Kharepatan, or Mumbai.
At the centenary function celebrated in 2008, the participants highlighted this short-fall repeatedly and expressed their determination to build a secondary school in their village. Accordingly, the villagers established two different organizations: “Shri Devi Pavanadevi Kripa Shikshan Vikas Mandal” (to function inside the village) and “Baparde-Juveshwar Gram Vikas Mandal” (to function in Mumbai).
Shri Appa Deu Ghadigaonkar donated land of 2 acres, Dhondabarao Yashwantrao Rane donated Rs. 15 lakhs, Infosys foundation donated Rs. 10 lakh (Courtesy : Dr. Suhas Rane) and further donations from village residents and mumbaikars, to help built an attractive building of Yashwantrao Rane High School
In this way, Baparde villagers fulfilled their dream project of high school w.e.f. 2012 and started 8th, 9th, and 10th classes. Later in 2021, the Pavnadevi mandal obtained approval from the Secondary Exams Board of Maharashtra Govt. and expanded the classes from 6th to 10th (SSC) plus junior college of 11th & 12th (Science and Commerce)
